Prize Giving 2011

The annual College Prize Giving was celebrated on Wednesday 14th December in the magnificent surroundings of the Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Birkenhead. The achievements of students in each year group for the academic year 2010-11 were recognised, with senior prize winners returning from university to collect their prizes, including former Head Boy Ben Jones (Modern Languages, London), Deputy Head Boy Joseph Fennelly (Medicine, Leeds) and James McIntosh (Anglo-Saxon, Norse & Celtic, Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge). The College Senior Strings and Brass groups provided our musical entertainment.

Our Principal Guest was Monsignor Canon John McManus, formerly Vicar General of The Diocese of Shrewsbury and parish priest of St. Agnes Church, West Kirby. His thoughtful and challenging address encouraged us to consider the question “What would Jesus say?” in the context of our lives and times and to use our critical faculties and abilities to seek the truth. Monsignor McManus warmly congratulated all Prize winners on their achievements and encourage them to apply Gospel values to their lives as they face the challenges of the future.

Suitably inspired our thoughts turned to Christmas!
