Merseyside League Cross Country

Saturday 14th January saw the final Merseyside League race which was held at a bitterly cold Arrowe Park. Again, there were promising individual and team displays from all the College squads.

Joshua Longman (4th) and Harry Hollis (10th) produced encouraging races which enabled the Year 7 team to come 2nd overall in the team standings, a great effort in their first year at the College.

The Year 8 team, led home by Joshua Hale (2nd) and Zachary Russell (3rd) enabled the Year 8 team to comfortably beat the other opposition and come first overall in the team standings. Year 9 saw Louis Johnston (1st) and Finan Johnston (2nd) lead the team home again in first place. Louis became the overall Merseyside champion with Finan in second place.

Year 10 & 11 continued their dominant performances with Tom Spence (1st) leading the way as St Anselm's again won the overall team event. In 6th Form, Joe Wigfield (1st) continued his fine form and he was ably supported by Ieuan Kearney (2nd) and Mike Rooke (3rd) which enabled the 6th Form team to cruise in to 1st place.

Overall, St Anselm's continue to be the leading school for Cross-Country in Merseyside and every boy who took part has played a huge role in this achievement.

Well done to all the boys who took part!
