King Henry Relays

On Wednesday 1st February, St Anselm's took part in the annual King Henry VIII Relay race for Cross-Country. We were looking to build on last year's position of 7th place and we took a very strong set of runners for both the A and B teams.

Joe Wigfield (Year 12) continued his excellent form as he achieved the 3rd fastest lap of the whole competition, completing the 2.3 mile course in 11.37, a fantastic achievement. There were impressive performances by the other 5 members of the A squad, Arran Kearney (Year 11), Louis Johnston (Year 9), Jacob Brophy (Year 11), Ieuan Kearney (Year 11) and Tom Spence (Year 11).

With a young squad the boys came in a comfortable 2nd position which is an outstanding achievement. This bodes well for the next few years as these boys have gained massive amounts of experience for next year's competition.

The B team also produced a fantastic result coming 19th out of 51 schools. Dominic Thomas on the 1st leg came 9th which shows the strength in depth that the College Cross-Country team has.

All the boys involved, including travelling reserves, were fantastic ambassadors for the College and they ensured that St Anselm's remain a leading school for Cross-Country across England.

Well done to all the boys who took part!
