GCSE Results 2017 - Record Breakers

Our students are celebrating their GCSE results this week, following some outstanding individual achievements. 93% of Year 11 boys achieved grades 4 or above in both English and Maths, with 18% gaining grades 7-9 in both subjects. Students on average gained 9+ grades A*-C or equivalents and our Attainment 8 score was 58.5 points. This maintained the high standards of recent years and follows on from last week’s excellent A level results which were the best of any Boys’ School in Wirral.

There were many outstanding individual achievements. Ebby Hanifehpour and Peter Shield, both from Wallasey, achieved the top grade available (9/A*) in all 11 subjects, a College record. Joe Curry, also from Wallasey, and Jacob Gilroy, from Heswall, secured 9 top grades (9/A*) and 2 As. Owen McWilliams, from Heswall, and Tom Ryan, from Eastham, achieved 8 A*s/8&9.

Headmaster Simon Duggan is delighted by the results, which he attributed to the commitment and dedication of boys and staff, and the support of parents, at a time when GCSEs have become more demanding following the introduction of new courses and grades in English and Maths.

He commented “These are wonderful individual results, statistically the best in the College’s history. We expect these outstanding students to progress to the leading universities in the country, and abroad, in 2 years time.
