Rugby update

Even following the torrential weather at the end of the week, the home fixtures went ahead. Once again reflecting the hard work and effort of groundsman Tommy McCann. There was an impeccably observed one minute silence to commemorate the fallen.

In difficult conditions the Year 8, 9 and 10 sides all battled away and there was some excellent rugby on show as our hosts Altrincham came to entertain and play.

The Year 8 side showed their continued improvement with a hard fought 30 points to 20 victory. Once again there were fine performances from Lynch and Arista who played with composure and patience at half back in very testing conditions.

The Year 9 side lost 29-15 but had some excellent chances. They just need to focus on retaining the ball better with a tough Cheshire Cup game on Tuesday against Stockport. The Alti back line proved too quick on the day and had a superb ten marshalling affairs.

Mr Hale's Year 10 side followed their Nat-West Vase victory over Liverpool College on Thursday with a hard fought 10-5 victory. There was a superb try saving tackle from Harry Hopwood that saved the day!

This weekend the local rivalries continue with a block fixture against Calday. The 1st XV are still looking to maintain their unbeaten run on a Saturday!
