Year 10 Farm visit
9th July 2012Mrs A Ravenscroft took a group of 12 Year 10 students to Woodpark Farm Wirral. The group consisted of students from Science, Maths and Technology (STEM.) The idea of the trip was for students to have a greater understanding of how all three subjects contribute to organising, maintaining and managing a working farm. It was to see how milk is produced on an industrial scale and how to manage and organise a herd of 200 cows efficiently, especially under the tight money and time constraints. Pupil account of Wood Park Farm visit
9th July 2012The trip to Wood Park Farm was an experience that many in the small group that went would not forget. Upon arrival we were greeted by John and a work experience student, Jess. We went into one of the visitors rooms at the farm and put on disposable overalls on and then began the tour. We were lucky enough to be there on one of four days in the year where the grass silage was being cut and gathered to put into the silage heap to begin the pickling process. Read More

Dan Freedman follow up visit for Year 7 and 8 students
6th July 2012We were lucky enough to once again be joined by best selling author Dan Freedman. Dan joined us in the Library at lunchtime for a relaxed chat about his new book "Final Whistle". About 50 students came along to ask some questions as well as purchase signed copies of his much anticipated book. Dan has been a huge hit here at St Anselm's ,this is his second visit! He really has inspired our students to get into reading and I am so happy with the results and proud of their efforts. Read More

Year 7 Cricket tour to London
5th July 2012On Monday 2nd July 2012 the Year 7 cricket team went to Woodcote House School in Surrey. Mr Mason and Mr O`Keefe drove us there in the school minibus; it was a long journey and took about five hours to get there. It was raining on the journey down but when we arrived it was only light so we were able to play. We lost the toss and were put into field first, which is what we would have chosen for ourselves. ‘See inside manufacturing’ visit
2nd July 2012Cheshire car maker Vauxhall opened its doors to hundreds of young students from across Wirral this month to promote manufacturing as a career. About 70 St Anselm’s pupils from Years 10 & 12 attended the event on the 27th June 2012. It follows the successful launch last year of the See Inside Manufacturing initiative run by the company when students visited its Ellesmere Port and Luton plants. Read More
