    The container cleared customs and arrived in Makeni on Saturday. There was great excitement about its arrival and the opportunities the contents present to the young people looking to begin careers as carpenters, seamstresses and chefs. Sister Mary has asked me to pass on her thanks for your unbelievable generosity in supporting the young people and the community still struggling to come to terms with the devastating impact of the Ebola virus that ravaged Sierra Leone.     The Year 10 cricket team have started the year where they left off as Year 9s with two convincing victories. Last week’s comprehensive victory against Calday Grange by 7 wickets was followed up by a strong win in Rydal. St Anselm’s won the toss and decided to bat - both Sam Manley and Ewan Nolan scoring thirty not out before retiring. In this 16 over game we posted a very healthy 132 runs. Read More

    Rt. Hon. Frank Field, MP for Birkenhead, took a break from electoral campaigning to visit St. Anselm's College in his constituency. He accepted an invitation from the 6th Form Edmund Rice International group to discuss issues of social justice, poverty and local homelessness with College students, including ERI Ambassadors Aaron Kinnear, Macaulay Taylor and Charlie Ward, and Headmaster Simon Duggan.     Library book finds its way home after more than 50 years

    As College Librarian I love opening the post to find lovely new books for our students. Imagine my surprise when I opened a handwritten package to find a 1955 copy of Thomas Hardy's The Mayor of Casterbridge that had been very kindly returned by the sister of some of our former pupils. The letter inside was lovely and explained that it had been found in the house after all this time and she had wanted to return it. Read More
