St. Anselm’s College has the oldest SVP conference in the country, established by teacher Bob Stevenson. Today the Senior SVP Conference supports the work of the Missionary Sisters of Charity with the homeless in the centre of Liverpool and collecting food and clothing at Christmas time for those in need. The conference hosts an annual Christmas party for the local elderly, particularly those in the two neighbouring care homes. The Junior SVP conference works on smaller projects throughout the year and leading the College’s Lenten fundraising. Both conferences meet weekly and discuss ideas and plans under the direction of an elected president.
“Were we to know the merit and value of only going from one street to another to serve a neighbour for the love of God, we should prize it more than silver and gold”
Blessed Edmund Rice
