Governors

In October 2013 Ofsted inspected the College. On the governance of the school they reported that “Governors are highly skilled and ambitious for the College. They have an accurate view of the College’s effectiveness and its priorities for future improvement. They understand how to ask the right questions when holding the College’s leaders to account and set challenging targets for the Headmaster. They ensure the College is financially healthy and have a good understanding of the effective use and impact of the pupil premium funding on eligible students’ achievement.”

The Governors are extremely proud to have the opportunity of being such an integral part of the life of St. Anselm’s College, being closely involved through its strong committee structure. We give strong support to the Headmaster and Senior Leadership Team and, indeed to all our excellent staff, both teachers and support staff.

In March 2014 the Inspector of the Diocese of Shrewsbury reported that “The Headmaster, Senior Leadership Team and Governing Body are deeply committed to Catholic Christian Values and the Church’s mission in education. Staff, Governors and students appreciate and understand the school’s mission and purpose and are heavily and actively involved in their implementation; there is general pride in what the College represents.”

The Chairman of the Governors has been involved with the College for 20 years and many of the male governors are also former pupils. Alongside our other governors, who represent parents, the Christian Brothers and the Council, they give sterling service to the College and have done so for countless years.

As governors, with a considerable range of expertise and experience, we have a clear vision for the future of the College. We believe that our commitment, allied to the excellent leadership of the Headmaster and the modernisation of Outwood House as a new Sixth Form Building, will ensure that St. Anselm’s continues to progress providing outstanding educational opportunities for its young men.

St. Anselm’s is recognised by Ofsted, pupils and parents, indeed throughout Wirral, as being a Family School; also the Governors, again quoted by Ofsted, “continue to provide an outstanding contribution to the College’s future" and we are determined to carry on being just that within the St. Anselm’s family.

Mr. John Brown
Chairman of Governors
