FOSA

All parents are automatically members of the Friends of St. Anselm’s College.

The Friends exist to encourage, promote and foster active co-operation between the parents or legal guardians of pupils, the staff and others associated with the College. They strive to protect and further the interests of the College, its staff and pupils and to encourage activities benefitting the education and welfare of all pupils attending the College.

The Friends manage their affairs through a committee, for which members are elected each year at an Annual General Meeting held during the February meeting, to which all parents and legal guardians are invited.

In recent years the Friends have supported a number of projects, most recently, the purchase of a mini bus, immersion trips to Sierra Leone, Rugby tours to Canada and Italy, students taking part in “Robocup” in Singapore and trips to Lourdes. They have also carried out a total refurbishment of the College bar to improve the facilities for fund raising events. They are currently raising funds for a further mini bus and to install lighting for the stage and hall to improve facilities for dramatic productions and all Hall based College events.

The Friends launched their “500 Club” in September 2011. Membership is £5.00 per month and half the income is returned to the members as prizes each month. The other half is used by FOSA to support and improve the College life for the students. Money is currently being donated to the Edmund Rice Trust to assist in the purchase and redevelopment of Outwood, the new 6th. Form building for Years 12 and 13. Money is also being used to donate to the other projects which FOSA supports.

I would like to welcome you to the Friends and hope that you will take an active part by supporting the functions, joining the committee or offering assistance in any other way you can.

The meetings are held in the “Food Hub” in the College on the first Tuesday of each month at 6.30pm. and all are welcome to attend.

The programme for the forthcoming year is as follows;

September 28th:  Wine Tasting Evening

November/ December:   Christmas Raffle

December 7th:  Annual Family Quiz night.    

March 2013:  Curry night

June/ July 2013:  Summer BBQ/ Race Night.
