Career Education

The school works in partnership with Connexions Greater Merseyside to provide the following services to the students and their parents:

Students participate in a Careers Education and Guidence programme delivered by their Form Teachers, Careers Officers and Head of Careers through their PSHE lessons. A Careers Officer is available in school two lunchtimes per week for students to seek advice and access information from computer databases and other sources in the Connexions Resource Room. In addition, Careers software is accessible on all networked computers at school. Pupils also have access to similar software from home via the internet.

Individual careers interviews take place in Years 11, 12 and 13 and on request in Year 10. Parents are welcome to be present, if they so wish, although the Careers Officer will be available at Parents' Evenings.

Since 1997, the Careers' Department has held the Government initiated, "Careers Library Standard." This was renewed in 2001, and again in 2004. In July 2004 the school's Careers Programme was awarded the Connexions Quality Award.
