The relationship that exists between the school and the parent is of fundamental importance. Naturally, the parents play the most important role in their child’s upbringing but the school, with its expertise and experience, supports and supplements the parents’ role.
Parents and school share the same concerns; therefore co-operation, mutual trust and respect must exist if a successful relationship is to develop between them.
Parent-Teacher meetings are held regularly but the school has an open-door policy and parents are always welcome, should they wish to discuss their child’s progress. We are always pleased to advise or assist in whatever ways we can - the progress, happiness and well-being of our students is of paramount importance. Parents wishing to make appointments should first contact the School Secretary during office hours, so that the necessary arrangements can be made.
Parents receive copies of a regular Newsletter from the Headmaster. Past and current editions of this Newsletter can be found on the News Page.
There is a thriving Parents’ Association - the Friends of St. Anselm’s College - who organise a range of fundraising and social events during the year. All parents are automatically members of the Association and are most welcome to attend the monthly meetings.
The Governors hold their Annual Meeting for Parents in the Autumn term each year and more direct involvement is possible through election as a Parent Governor for a four-year period.
There is a home-school agreement which parents and pupils are asked to countersign with the school. This was formulated following widespread consultation.
