More Cross Country Success!

The College Cross Country squad maintained our impressive traditions by winning the northern Schools Championships for the 6th successive year at Woodbank Park, Stockport, in March. Our teams finished 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 1st in their respective competitions to ensure that we regained the prestigious Roses Trophy which we now regard as our birthright!
In the Year 7 competition, 2nd place was secured by fine individual performances from Liam Gawne (8th), Kieran Miller (9th) 7 Andrew Desmond (10th). The Year 8 team also achieved 2nd place, based on the performances of Sam Robinson (6th), Patrick McAteer (14th) & Jack Birss (16th). The Year 9 team finished 3rd in their competition with good runs by Steven Simpson, Tom Fraine, Joe Madden and Jack Horrocks.
The combined Year 10/11 team was sustained by excellent performances from Steven Duckers and Year 10 students Andrew Gawne and Eamonn Foster who ran well against older opponents.
The Senior Team followed their magnificent victory at the King Henry VIII Relays at Coventry in February with another team triumph to secure the School trophy. Adam Peers won the individual event and was closely followed by Tom Madden and Killian Walley. This completed another outstanding Cross Country season, the first under the leadership of Mr. Horman, ably assisted by Mr. Tobin.
