The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Carl Davis with vocalists Mark Moraghan and Hannah Levane, performed all the theme songs from the Bond movies, starting with Doctor No and finishing with Skyfall.

The show was fantastic, with the audience shaken and stirred by the sound of a full size symphony orchestra giving a powerful rendition of the music.

The Year 8 Cricket team lost their unbeaten record when they were beaten by St. Edward's College by 2 runs in an exciting affair at The Ridings.

St Edward's were put into bat and had a strong opening partnership but it was the erratic bowling of wides and no balls that once again added up. The extras tally of 50 runs allied to the clever batting of the opposition meant we were chasing a reasonable tally of 102 in twenty overs.

The weather was superb with temperatures hitting 28oC. Day 2 consists of morning training on the local beach pre breakfast and then a day trip to Venice for some culture. The tournament starts on a forecast wet and cold Saturday with pool matches against unknown European competition. At least the weather looks similar to that of the UK so the boys should feel quite at home in the cold and the rain!

Six students in 8E completed a sponsored row on Friday 9th December and have raised nearly 250 pounds for charity. Each student completed a 10 kilometre row during lunchtime and periods 7 and 8, the equivalent of rowing for an hour. The six students involved were Jonathan Nelson, Alex Luxon-Kewley, Ronin Gibbins, Matthew McNamara, Josh Hurst and with 24 hours notice Ethan O'Dowd (Harry Jollie was injured). This is a fantastic achievement and I am sure that the charities involved with St Anselm's College will greatly appreciate it. Well Done!
