Excellent A Level results at St. Anselm's!

Year 13 students at St. Anselm’s College, Birkenhead, are celebrating the successful conclusion to their College careers. They achieved 56% grades A*-B grades with a 100% pass rate this summer. 99% of students achieved 3 or more GCE (A Level) passes and 11% secured 3 or more A*/A grades. 24% of all entries were graded at the top grades A*/A. These were the best results of the Boys’ Grammar Schools in Wirral and for any all-boys 6th Form! Our average points score was 4th-best in Wirral LA.

There were many outstanding individual performances with 4 students achieving 3 A* grades or better. Head Boy Milo Callaghan, from Hoylake, and Matthew McNamara, from Oxton, have both secured places at Cambridge University to read English and Mathematics respectively. Patrick Burke (4A*), from Claughton, will read History and Politics at Sheffield and Daniel Johnson, from Bebington, will study Mechatronic Engineering at the University of Manchester.

All boys who aspired to a university place have been offered one. Once again more than 1 in 3 of all university places are at Russell Group universities.

This has been an excellent year group, both academically and in terms of their contribution to the extra-curricular life of the College, and they fully deserve these impressive results, especially given the uncertainty caused by the introduction of new A Level courses. These students were excellent role models for younger boys and have been outstanding ambassadors for St. Anselm’s. We will miss them and wish them deserved success at university and on apprenticeships.”

St. Anselm’s College is the Roman Catholic Grammar School Academy for boys aged 11-18 in Wirral. It provides an academic education supported by outstanding extra-curricular activities in sport, music, the arts, technology and leadership.
