Economics Department trip to Liverpool University

On Wednesday 31st January, 37 Economics students from St Anselm’s visited the Management School at Liverpool University. They were given expert tuition in the use of the Bloomberg terminals by Mr Jason Laws and Dr Gianluigi Giorioni from the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting. In an environment that resembled a professional trading floor, the students were able to use the terminals to call up share price information, company profiles and economics forecasts. Following this, the boys listened to a fascinating and informative lecture on Brexit by David Smith, the Economics editor of the Sunday Times. This was a thoroughly enjoyable trip which encouraged many of the students to consider a career in the financial world.
