Year 8 STEM trip: Big Bang Event, Liverpool

We took 13 of our most able Scientists to a STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering and Maths) event in Liverpool. The venue was packed with exciting stalls offering hands on activities, careers advice and free pens (and free torches if you knew where to look). Several stalls had virtual reality goggles and augmented reality headsets enabling the students to enter a virtual world. There was even an ice cream van. They were able to craft circuits, score goals past a robot goalkeeper and experiment with liquid nitrogen. Most importantly, they got the chance to see where careers in the much demanded field of STEM subjects could lead them.
Thanks to the boys for their exemplary behaviour and Mr Davis and Miss Madden for their support.
