Sedbergh Invitational CC Race

Saturday 15th September saw St Anselm's compete against Sedbergh and Shrewsbury Grammar in the Sedbergh Invitational Cross Country Challenge. There where Junior, Intermediate and Senior categories, all of which the St Anselm's squads won, which enabled us to the start the season in fine fashion.

On a tough and gruelling course, the Junior Boys (Year 9) performed valiantly as they competed with Year 10 & 11 students. Harry Kaye led the way impressively for the Year 9 team. Joshua Hale (Year 10) was the individual winner for the Intermediate race, his first ever race win; with Harry Ross Hughes (Year 10) in 3rd place. For the Seniors, Tom Spence led the boys home in 2nd place and he was ably supported by Martin Hurst, Arran Kearney and Max Clark.

A special mention must also go to our very own Dr Cooper who competed in the Old Boys race and he, unsurprisingly, won his overall race; completing a clean sweep of wins for the College!

A special thank you to our hosts Sedbergh School for providing fantastic hospitality and we hope to visit again in the near future.

Well done to all selected athletes!
