1st XV progress to Round 3 in NatWest and remain unbeaten for the season

The 1st XV drew 29 all away at Liverpool College in the 2nd round of the Nat West Vase. It was a tough game and the hosts came firing out the blocks and put us under a lot of early pressure. The scores remained close until the final quarter when a well worked try from Liverpool gave them a 12 point lead. However, great phase play led to two late scores from James Blaydon and crucially Ally Hughes kicked the conversion to level up the scores and take us through on the away team rule.

On Saturday the 1st XV gained a hard fought 36-17 win away at Birkenhead School to take the first local derby spoils of the season!

The squad is being severely tested by injuries and young players like Bladon, Hancox, Croft, De Buitlear, Colquitt and Jones  have all represented the team with distinction.

The squad now has now won four and drawn one of their opening five matches.

The next two weeks include matches against Manchester, Wirral and Birkenhead in the Vase, so further tough tests lie ahead.
