Year 7 Rugby continues to flourish

There was only one Year 7 Rugby match on Saturday v Bishop Heber. This is a shame as there are three excellent teams in this age group.

Mr Finch was away unfortunately to witness an outstanding team performance in a 11 tries to 0 victory.

The boys have had an excellent season
Winning 9 matches; drawn 1 and Lost 3
including wins against Merchant Taylors, Calday and  Wirral.

Following a rare loss to Ambrose the week before the focus was on defensive organisation and line speed. The boys stuck rigidly to this and out wide captain
Ethan Milner was a leader of the defence, closing down the space intelligently.

The forwards once again set the standard and Joe Hughes was his usual competitive self and it was great to see George McDonnell back from injury.

In the backs Harry Batch looked composed and assured and Dan Peers moved the ball at every opportunity.

The most pleasing aspect of Saturday was the fact that there were eight different try scorers!

Ed Unsworth, Finley McGraph and Alex Kerr got two tries apiece and Matthew Simpson got a nice solo effort late on.

The foundations were in place following a strong defensive effort and the squad of 18 boys should be really pleased with their efforts.

Well done
