Grade 9 students!

St. Anselm’s College GCSE Results 2021

Deserved rewards!

Our Year 11 students are now celebrating their GCSE results following impressive achievement overall and many outstanding individual successes. 98% of Year 11 boys were awarded grades 4 or above in both English and Mathematics, with 43% of all GCSE entries being allocated the top grades 7-9, with 86% of entries at grades 5-9 and 97% at 4-9. This maintained the high standards of recent years and follows on from excellent A Level results earlier this week.

There were many outstanding individual achievements. Luca Marzin, from Meols, was awarded 11 grade 9s, equalling the College record, with Joshua McAllister, from Upton, achieving 10 and Charles O’Connor, from Caldy, 9 top grades respectively. Callum Jones, from Bebington, was awarded 8 grade 9s and Joshua Chackada and Stephen Dowse both secured 7 such grades. Headmaster Simon Duggan is delighted by the results, which he attributed to the commitment and dedication of boys and staff, and the support of parents, at a time of huge disruption to the education system. He commented “This is a talented and hard-working Year 11 cohort so our students deserve these impressive grades and we are in no doubt that they would have achieved similar results if they had been allowed to sit their GCSE exams. Luca, Josh and Charles’ awards are remarkable and well-deserved and we expect all these outstanding students to progress to the leading universities in the country in 2 years’ time in the footsteps of this year’s successful A Level students.”

St. Anselm’s College was the top 6th Form in Wirral, and best maintained 6th Form in Merseyside, for progress from GCSE to A Level in 2019, the last year in which public exams were sat.
