Headmaster's Message - 17th January 2022

Dear parents,

I hope that you enjoyed a relaxing weekend. We are back in normal routines at the College after higher than usual absence during the first fortnight of term. Nearly all staff have returned to teaching and the student attendance rate is now 92%, although still lower than average. The Wirral Covid rate remains high and has yet to decrease since Christmas, so we must remain vigilant. Please ensure that your son brings a face mask or covering to College each day unless he has a certificated medical exemption.

The 5-day rule is now in operation for students and adults who record a positive LFD test, as explained in Mrs Cubbin's email at the end of last week. Boys can take LFD tests after 5 full days isolation and return to the College once they have recorded 2 consecutive daily negative LFD tests, for example on days 5 and 6. They should not return if they remain unwell.

Yesterday the Church celebrated Peace Sunday, and this will be our liturgical theme this week. Pope Francis' message for 2022 is on the College website.

Sport and extra-curricular activities have now returned to normal, and we enjoyed exciting rugby matches on Saturday in our Christian Brothers derby against St. Ambrose College. The 1st XV, Under-14s and Under-12 A&B teams all enjoyed notable victories.

I wish you and your families a healthy and enjoyable week.

Yours in Christ,
Simon Duggan
Headmaster
