Headmaster's Message - 22nd January 2022

Dear parents,

I hope that you and your families have had a good week.
The Prime Minister's announcement that pupils are no longer required to wear face masks or coverings during lessons marks a step towards normality, although your sons will still need to wear masks in communal areas of the College like the Library, corridors and the Oratory until Thursday. The Wirral Covid rate remains higher than the national average at over 1,200 cases per 100,000 and our attendance remains below our pre-Covid average at 92% so the Omicron variant is still being widely transmitted and we must remain vigilant. Boys may still continue to wear masks in class if they, and you, wish.

The Battle of the Bands takes place from 6pm on Sunday at Future Yard in Birkenhead. All tickets have now been sold and face coverings will be required indoors.
The Year 11 6th Form Options Forms must be returned to Mr Rumsby, in College, by Friday 28th January.

Our next Parents Evening is for Year 8 on Thursday 10th February from 5pm.
Year 13 Reports will be sent to parents next week.

Our sports teams have enjoyed continued success. The Year 7, Year 9 and 1st XVs enjoyed notable victories in the Christian Brothers derby match against St. Ambrose College last Saturday. The 1st, 2nd and Year 9 Hockey teams all recorded victories against Wirral Grammar School for Boys last week, although the 1st XI was defeated 3-0 by mighty Altrincham GS despite a good performance in the National Cup on Wednesday. We beat them at rugby! We now enter the Plate competition.
These events provide further proof of the return of normal routines!

I wish you and your families an enjoyable, safe and healthy weekend.

Best wishes,
Simon Duggan
