Merseyside Cross Country League race at Calderstones Park

On Saturday 5th October, we had our first Merseyside League race which was held at Calderstones Park. There where some excellent individual and team performances and as a squad, we are hitting form at the right time, as we enter our busiest part of the Cross-Country calendar.

In Year 8, Sebastian Thorpe won the race against a competitive field, with Alfie Forsyth-Wisbey in 4th, Lewis Greenhalgh in 6th and Miles Craven in 7th place. This meant that the Year 8 team won the overall race. In the Year 9 & 10 race, Formby High School proved difficult opponents, as we came 2nd in the team standings. There where however, impressive individual performances from Joshua Longman and Tom Roberts (both Year 10), who came 7th and 8th respectively.

Finally, in the Senior and Year 11 race, we had 1st and 2nd individual placings by Louis Johnston and Finan Johnston (both Year 12). Zach Russell and Josh Hale (both Year 11) came 5th and 6th, which led to us winning this first race overall.

All boys who took part should be commended for their efforts and commitment and a big thank you must be shown to Mr Formela, Mr Dowse, Mr Haire and Mr Platt who came to watch and support the boys.

Well done to all!

Mr S. Simpson
