More Year 7 Rugby Success

In the local derby against rivals Wirral Grammar on a wet and windy Thursday evening at The Ridings, the Year 7 rugby squads emerged victorious, winning all three matches and conceding only one try between them. The A team won 60-0, the B team won 25-5 and the C team, in only their 2nd match for the College, won 45-0. The strength in depth in this year group is outstanding, with strong competition for places in all three teams.

The A team take a well-deserved half term break boasting a perfect record: played 6, won 6. Their stats for those games are remarkable: they have scored 250 points (50 tries), conceded only 35 points (7 tries), whilst keeping clean sheets in 4 out of the 6 games. In the previous two games against Manchester Grammar and Wirral, they have scored 115 points without reply. Their power upfront, pace in the backs and improved handling and support play is a pleasure to watch. Their aim now should be to go the whole term unbeaten.

The B team have now won 3 of their 4 games, with many players pushing for inclusion in the A team. Their last three games, against Birkenhead, MGS and Wirral, have resulted in 55-0, 60-5 and 25-5 wins respectively, which means they have scored 28 tries and conceded only 2 in those 3 games: a fantastic achievement.

The C team out-muscled and out-worked Wirral and could have scored even more that the 9 tries they got. Jesh Inatimi, Charles Osuhor and Jack McGregor were amongst the try scorers in a solid whole-squad performance. A number of these players should now be aiming for a place in the B team (or even higher) in the near future.
