Saint Anselm's College U15 NatWest Vase success

The Under 15 team continued their recent undefeated run of success with a 5-5 draw against Ellesmere College on Saturday.  If ever a 'draw' could be called "thrilling" this was it, the forwards of both teams played with absolute heart and were unwilling to give away any territory when in defence.  When the ball was given to the backs there was no room to play and the tackling was fierce.  A brilliant game and a draw was the fair result for both teams.

The squad followed this with a well earned 13-7 win against Bishop Heber High School in the Natwest Vase.  This progresses the team to the last 16 of a National Competition.  Bishop Heber were very well drilled and made it very difficult to play any kind of Rugby.  Zach Smart made an early break through some clever mid-field play from Charles O'Connor, Freddie Arista and Gabriel Ford to score in the corner.  Before the break at half-time Freddie Arista converted a penalty to make it 8-0.  In the second half Bishop Heber made good use of the wind, kicking for territory and put constant pressure on the game ending with a well converted try to take the game to 8-7.  Saint Anselm's responded with great heart playing down inside the Bishop Heber half, after calling for a scrum at the penalty Cahill Lynch put excellent pressure on the opposition kicking through a loose ball and chasing the ball down to score and make the game 13-7.

Congratulations to the U15 team, this takes their undefeated run to 9 weeks - last losing on the 10th October.  A fantastic achievement, well done.
