St George's Park visit

On Tuesday a group of 6th formers visited St George's Park the home of the FA and the national centre of excellence.

This is a state of the art facility and a focal point for elite training and sports science in the UK.

The boys experienced a number of Game Changer Performance workshops including state of the art hydrotherapy and rehabilitation pool sessions. They also actively took part in the  reviewing of  elite player fitness testing and performance management.

The day finished with a tour of the FA centre of excellence that includes both in and outdoor 3G playing facilities. Yesterday the England Women's Under 19 Football squad were in attendance and this was an eye opener as to level of commitment and attention to detail given by this level of performer, including the vast array of sports scientists and support staff who help to manage elite performers.

The facility has a sense of awe and purpose to it and is a key part in England's bid to become world champions in male and female football. It should hopefully act as a big inspiration for many of our pupils who wish to go into a career in Sports Science.

In recent year's former pupil Neil Parsley has made a name for himself as England Rugby S&C coach and he is now a consultant for football clubs like Manchester City.
