Headmaster's Message 3rd July 2020

Dear parents and students,

we are now in July and the end of the most unusual term of my 32-year teaching career is quickly approaching!

Next week, from Monday 6th July, both Year 10, in Forms, and Year 12, in Subject groups, will be taught on site for part of the week. The Year 12 Higher Education Evening went well last Thursday and we follow it with a Personal Statement writing seminar on Tuesday at 2pm and an Apprenticeship Evening Meeting, both on Teams, on Thursday 9th July at 6.30pm.

Sadly DfE guidance does not allow us to welcome Years 7,8 and 9 back to College before the end of term on Wednesday 15th July, but, as you will have heard from the media, the government intends that all Year groups will return to full-time education on site in September and we have begun to plan for this challenging, but necessary and welcome, aspiration. I hope that the boys are enjoying the problem solving and kinaesthetic curriculum that the staff have provided for them until the end of next week. We also have a Year 7- 9 Virtual Careers Event on Tuesday morning, 7th July, to stimulate and inspire them.

Mr Diaz & I will be writing to Year 11 and 13 parents and students this month to give some guidance regarding our Results Days on 13th August (A Level & BTEC) and 20th August (GCSE) before the end of term. The arrangements are subject to public health considerations and are likely to take a different form from the traditional model.

I wish you all a healthy and enjoyable weekend.

Yours in Christ,
Simon Duggan
Headmaster
