A Level success at St. Anselm’s!

Year 13 students at the College, have maintained the high standards of recent years, despite the disruption suffered this year. They are celebrating a successful conclusion to their College careers after being awarded 70% grades A*-B at A Level, 40% A*/A, with a 100% pass rate. All students were awarded 3 or more A Level or equivalent passes. This maintains the College’s tradition of high value added from GCSE to A Level. 50% of all BTEC entries were awarded Distinctions with 100% passes.

There were many outstanding individual achievements with 3A* grades being awarded to medical applicant Jack Adlard, from Bromborough, (Medicine at the University of Manchester) and 2A*s & 1A for Abhishiek Sansom, from Birkenhead (Medicine at Keele University). The College’s Physics students have again excelled with Wallasey students Matthew Kendall (King’s College, London), Kapilash Kugabalan (University of Manchester), and Robert Meadows from Prenton (Durham University), all achieving 3A*s in order to continue their Physics studies. George Shannon, from Great Sutton, earned the best social science results. His 2 A*s & 2 A grades have secured his place to read Politics & Sociology at Warwick University.

Headmaster Simon Duggan commented “Our Centre Assessed grades provide a fair reflection of the ability and progress of this excellent Year group who have made a tremendous contribution to College life and have been impressive Anselmian role models for younger boys. The UCAS system is obviously under pressure at present but we are supporting them to achieve the university places that they deserve.”

St. Anselm’s College was the top 6th Form in Wirral, and best maintained 6th Form in Merseyside, for progress from GCSE to A Level in 2019, when all exams were sat.
