Headmaster’s message for Week commencing Monday 7th September

Dear parents,

I am pleased to inform you that we have completed the first week of term and our provisional arrangements to facilitate a safer environment for students and staff seem to be working reasonably well.

All Year groups have been in College and we expect all students to attend full-time from Monday when the full Week B timetable will be in operation. We have had to introduce such contingencies as 1-way systems, hand sanitisation in each classroom and staggered breaks and lunchtimes and the plan has worked well so far.

We need you to reinforce our messages about social distancing, especially inside buildings. This does not come naturally to teenagers, especially after 5 months away from College! We advise students to wear face masks in corridors and when walking around buildings, in line with DfE guidance, although this is not yet compulsory. Given this weekend’s message from the Council about the increasing rate of infection in Wirral it is quite possible that face coverings will soon become compulsory in buildings, but not in classrooms. The College will continue to be guided by Public Health Wirral.

Normal College rules apply regarding appearance and behaviour. Some students have returned with long hair, dyed hair and trainers. They will be sent home next week unless their appearance conforms with our published expectations so please ensure visits to barbers and office-style shoes! The behaviour of students has been exemplary so far and I congratulate our boys upon their efforts.

I wish you and your families a safe and productive week. Please continue to monitor the College website and social media for current news and guidance.

Your sincerely,

Simon Duggan

Headmaster
