Headmaster's Message - 16th October 2020

Dear parents,

we are pleased to come to the end of  a busy week which has seen a dramatic increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in Wirral where the infection rate is twice the national average.

5 boys are currently isolating following positive tests but another 94 are isolating owing to direct contacts with positive cases or because of symptoms in their families.

We want to make our contribution to help reduce the rate, and enforced student absence, but we need your help to do it.

If your son is unwell please do NOT send him into College, even if he does not have Covid symptoms. A day's rest will do him good.

If your son feels unwell do not allow him out! This particularly applies to 6th Formers.

If he is awaiting the result of a test or he, or anyone in the family, has symptoms do NOT send him into College!

As you can see from the College website Claughton ward currently ahs the highest number of confirmed cases so we need parents to re-inforce our messages about social distancing and hand hygiene.

I strongly advise parents not to allow their sons to continue in part-time employment, nor visit Gyms, nor attend parties or social gatherings, in line with government guidelines for Merseyside. The risks to public health are too great!

On a happier note I am pleased to annouce that the College Entrance Exam went smoothly on Tuesday and students and staff appear to have benefited from the INSET Day. We are confident that we can continue normal service until the half-term break, but we want to be able to do so afterwards as well.

I hope that you and your families have a relaxing weekend.

Best wishes,

Simon Duggan
