Success for the Senior Hockey Team

The combined St Anselm's College Senior and Old Boys Hockey Team recorded 2 wins in the last week of the Wirral summer league, beating both Birkenhead and Oxton Senior club teams.

On Saturday, we played Birkenhead School, winning 3-2 with goals coming from Morris, Newell and Ashman. Some good goalkeeping from Alderson secured the victory and there were stand out performances from Ashman and Prescott. Congratulations as well to Sedgewick who made his Senior debut.

On Wednesday, we beat Oxton 3-1, with the goals coming from Prescott, Shields and Morris with his second of the week. The boys played some fantastic flowing hockey and on another day could have scored 6 or 7. Man of the match went to Raynor but there were other notable performances from Smithies, Shields and Taylor.

A big thank you must go out to all the old boys who have come back to represent the College and shared their knowledge with the younger boys. (Naylor, Ashman, Wakefield, Owen, Connolly and Warburton).

Well done to all the younger lads who have integrated seamlessly into the senior team and will make strong contributions next year.
Finally, congratulations to Jinks for his captaincy over the last year and a half, he has always led by example and has been integral to the team.

Many thanks to all the lads who have played for all your efforts this year.
Mr Edwards
