Cross Country

Cross-Country is a strong tradition St. Anselm’s College with students given the opportunity to choose the activity as part of their Games option.  It is a great way to work towards and maintain a healthy lifestyle, and allows students to demonstrate their personalities working hard to improve their own performance. There are a number of routes and courses across the Wirral that test runners from a variety of terrains in the past, all of which have had many successful Anselmian runners train on them. Every lunchtime a large number of runners engage in local runs to help build and maintain leg speed and cardiovascular fitness, as well as creating a real team spirit within the different Year groups.

St. Anselm’s enjoys regular success at a local, regional and national level winning many individual medals and team trophies each year. Recent successes have included winning the English National Schools Cup in 2015 at Intermediate level and 2nd at the very prestigious King Henry Relays in 2017 at Senior level. We are also the current Northern Schools champions and have won this event for the past 5 seasons.
